For those who are not familiar with me or my family – I was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, raised in the Tidewater area of Virginia (Norfolk), went to college in Florida at Trinity Baptist College), worked as an Associate Pastor for two years in Palatka, Florida, ministered at a Children’s Home in Virginia Beach for about one-and-a-half years, served as the Pastor of the Community Baptist Church in Middle River, MD (Baltimore area) for over fifteen years, and now I am the Pastor at the Freedom Baptist Church in Harrisonburg where I have been since January 2006. I like reading – particularly about history. That was the Cliffs Note version.
My wife’s name is Diana. She is a native Virginian with local roots going back to the Revolutionary War. We met in our church youth group at the Norview Baptist Church in Norfolk, VA, and we were youth group sweethearts (we would have been high school sweethearts, but we went to rival schools). We have been married going on thirty years. We have two daughters and a son-in-law who is as much of a son that we never had (whatever that means). Diana enjoys bird watching and reading.
Our oldest daughter, Katie, and her husband, Matt, currently live in the Beckley, WV area where Matt is studying for the ministry at Appalachian Bible College. Our youngest, Tess, is currently in the eleventh grade (home-schooled), and lives at home (which makes home-schooling convenient). Tess likes to play the guitar and sing.
Overall, our family loves to spend time together. We like to eat out. We enjoy the fellowship of other Christians. We like to eat out. We faithfully watch American Idol and Lost (I’m not sure what we do the other six months of the year). Did I mention that we like to eat out?
